Family HistoryBACK TO: WHAT WE DO
FAMILY HISTORY GROUP
The family history group held its first meeting in March 2013. We now meet on the third Wednesday of every month at Marple library, where we always have the use of three computers (or sometimes more if they are available). There is a wide range of experience amongst members from absolute beginners to others who have been working on their family history for years. There is a very friendly atmosphere at meetings and people are very willing to help those who find themselves with a problem – but some problems are unsolvable!
Family history has become very popular in the last few years, helped by
television programmes such as “Who Do You Think You Are?” However, these can be misleading. I have never yet gone into a library or
archive to be met by a smiling researcher with a register already open at the
page I need, and I don’t suppose I ever shall.
You and I have to do all the work ourselves – which is where the group
might be able to help.
So if you are interested in this fascinating hobby drop me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
